Montpellier

Montpellier is located around 51km to the northeast of Le Beach Garden campsite and is well worth taking the time to visit. You’ll find that Montpellier is a vibrant and lively city which is mainly due to it’s fantastic university population. The university is one of the oldest in the world having been founded in 1160 and this means that the city has had to ensure that it keeps it’s students by providing a wonderful range of modern facilities and activities. There are therefore many restaurants, bars, cafes and shops in Montpellier but saying that the city also boasts a wonderful range of historical and cultural places to see and visit. The main attractions in Montpellier are the Mare Nostrum Aquarium, the Place de la Comedie, the Jardin des plants de Montpellier (which are the oldest botanical gardens in France having been constructed in 1593), the Promenade du Peyrou, the 14th Century Saint Pierre Cathedral and the Tour Des Pins, which are the remaining 25 towers which formed part of the cities fortifications in the 13th Century.

Agde

Agde dates back to around 575BC and is one of the oldest villages in France. This lovely village can be found just 6km to the west of Le Beach Garden campsite and has two main parts. Firstly there is Agde itself and secondly Cap d’Agde.
Within the streets of Agde you’ll find a variety of shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and lovely buildings. The main attraction at Cap d’Agde is of course the beache.
Other attractions in and around Agde include the great aquarium and Aqualand water park.

Meze Dinosaur Museum Park

At Meze, which is 22km to the north of Le Beach Garden campsite, you’ll discover the Dinosaur Museum Park. This wonderful museum is perfect for children who love all types of dinosaurs. As you walk around the wooded area of this outside museum you come across a variety of scenes where the life sized dinosaurs stand. The museum is extremely well laid out with plenty for children to see and do and there’s also an awful lot of information too. Older teenagers will probably find the museum a little beneath them but for younger ones it’s the perfect place to spend a morning or afternoon. As well as the life sized dinosaurs, you’ll find a wealth of information and you can also have fun finding dinosaur eggs and bones in the sand pit and there’s also a lovely sheltered picnic area, cafe and shop.

Aqualand Cap d’Agde

The water park is a great place for a day out with lots of fun and excitement for all ages. The pool at Le Beach Garden campsite is excellent but if it’s slides you’re after then a trip to Aqualand could be on the cards.
The slides, chutes and rides are great with a wonderful variety available for all ages. Please be aware though that Aqualand is a popular attraction and as such can become quite busy during high season. You will find queues within the park for some slides. To save you having to queue we recommend that you pre book them the day before.
